We’ve all heard that necessary budget cuts will impact some of the services that typically are provided for by King County. Real estate transactions are not exempt from these cuts and will be specifically impacted by occasional closures of the King County Recording Office. See notes below for the closed dates currently known for this year.
King County, in order to partially resolve its budgetary problems, will furlough all “nonessential” employees on certain days in 2009. This includes employees in the Recorder’s Office, meaning you will NOT be able to record on these dates in addition to the scheduled holidays.
These dates are:
- Friday, January 2
- Friday, February 13
- Friday, April 10
- Friday, May 22
- Friday, June 19
- Monday, July 6
- Friday, September 4
- Monday, October 12
- Wednesday, November 25
- Thursday, December 24
Because there will be NO recordings done on these dates, please make sure any purchase and sale agreements are dated accordingly.
If there are any changes to these dates by the King County Recorder’s Office, I will let you know immediately.
