We’re so excited about our guest this week, because we are passionate about this topic! This week on ‘Open House’ we welcomed Page Ulrey, the Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for King County, Criminal Division. She prosecutes cases of elder abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation. By far the most common form they see is financial exploitation, with a recent report showing that for every 1 case of elder financial exploitation that occurs, another 44 never come to light. Another study that was done in NY recently that found that any form of elder abuse increases the risk of premature death by of victim by 300%, so it’s a huge problem.
